Our client, a renowned global bank, is seeking an accomplished Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs focusing on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) matters. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team at the forefront of sustainable finance and play a pivotal role in shaping regulatory strategies related to ESG within the banking sector.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the bank's regulatory strategy and policy framework regarding ESG matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Monitor and analyze emerging ESG regulatory developments at national and international levels, assessing their potential impact on the bank's operations, products, and services.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, legal, compliance, and risk teams, to provide expert guidance on integrating ESG considerations into business strategies and operations.
- Represent the bank in regulatory forums and industry associations, advocating for sustainable finance policies, contributing to industry standards, and actively participating in relevant working groups.
- Build and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, ensuring effective communication and engagement on ESG-related matters.
- Provide thought leadership on ESG regulatory trends, engaging with key stakeholders internally and externally to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Lead and manage a team of regulatory professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in regulatory affairs within the financial services industry, preferably within a leading bank or regulatory body, with a focus on ESG matters.
- In-depth knowledge of ESG regulations, frameworks, and reporting standards, such as the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
- Strong understanding of banking operations, products, and services, and their potential ESG impacts.
- Excellent understanding of the regulatory landscape and ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks, ensuring compliance and proactive engagement.
- Proven ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, including regulatory authorities, industry associations, and clients.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as finance, economics, or law, preferred.
