Climate Finance - Director, Banking, London, UK
Job description
We are working with a renowned bank based in London, UK, on their search for a Climate Finance Director. As the Climate Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in the bank's mission to implement SDG-aligned financing at scale. This involves public/private funding, bilateral/multilateral finance, and private capital to drive sustainable climate finance solutions.
Responsibilities
- Blended Finance Strategy: Support the design and rollout of blended finance solutions and strategies in the countries where the bank operates.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage a coalition of blended financial actors, workstreams, and key policymakers to structure and capitalize blended finance products earmarked for Climate Finance implementation.
- Project Origination: Work closely with local and national representatives to enable and accelerate the proposed financing vehicles. Originate and structure large and medium-scale projects for the deployment of blended finance mechanisms.
- Knowledge Sharing: Oversee the creation of reports, tools, case studies, etc., for blended finance. Detail best practices for achieving sustainable finance projects at scale with private sector involvement.
- Research and Analysis: Design and oversee research to identify the most effective sourcing, deployment, and use of blended capital flows. Consider the political economy, culture, and financial situation of countries to improve natural resource management.
- GCF Accredited Entity: Represent the bank as a GCF Accredited Entity with the GCF Secretariat. This includes participation in project consultation sessions, technical supervision missions, national structured dialogues, GCF-convened regional and thematic workshops, and key international events.
- Project Management: Identify and manage the processes associated with GCF projects at all stages of implementation. Develop and implement Funding Proposals and ensure compliance with the bank and GCF standards and requirements.
Qualifications
- Blended Finance Expertise: Proven experience in blended finance within the context of climate finance.
- Climate Finance: Strong background in climate finance, including climate change adaptation and mitigation.
- Debt Instruments: Familiarity with debt instruments and financial structures relevant to emerging markets.
- Climate Change Knowledge: Deep understanding of climate change issues, challenges, and opportunities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Research and Analysis: Strong analytical skills to drive data-informed decisions.
- GCF Accreditation: Experience working with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) is a plus.
