Job description
We are currently seeking on behalf of our client, a leading gas distributor committed to driving sustainability and playing a pivotal role in the global energy transition. As part of their continued commitment to sustainability, they are looking for a talented Carbon Market Analyst to join their team in Paris. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of carbon markets, assessing carbon pricing mechanisms, analysing emissions trading schemes, and contributing to their carbon reduction strategies.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze carbon markets, tracking regulatory developments, policy changes, and market trends that impact carbon pricing and emissions trading schemes.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on carbon market dynamics, including carbon prices, supply and demand factors, and market participants.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support the optimisation of carbon asset portfolios and the identification of emission reduction opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement carbon reduction strategies in line with corporate sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare reports and presentations on carbon market analysis, communicating key findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Engage with external partners, industry associations, and carbon market platforms to stay informed about industry best practices and foster strategic partnerships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Environmental Science, Energy) is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Strong understanding of carbon markets, emissions trading schemes, and carbon pricing mechanisms.
- Experience in analysing market dynamics, conducting quantitative research, and interpreting complex data related to carbon markets and environmental commodities.
- Familiarity with international carbon market regulations and policies, such as the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and voluntary carbon markets.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, with the ability to manipulate and analyse large datasets.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market trends, identify patterns, and provide actionable insights.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages, including French are a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
