We are partnering with a leading solar and battery development company. Our client is a recognised renewable energy sector player specializing in solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). They are seeking a dynamic and experienced BESS Development Director to join their team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of cutting-edge energy storage projects and contribute to the growth of clean energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of battery energy storage projects, focusing on site identification, feasibility assessments, and securing necessary permits and approvals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and finance professionals, to oversee the entire project lifecycle from concept to operation.
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to assess project viability, identify investment opportunities, and develop business cases for potential investors or financing partners.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including landowners, local authorities, and regulatory bodies, to ensure successful project development and compliance with relevant regulations and permitting processes.
- Stay informed about market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments in the energy storage sector, providing strategic insights to guide project planning and decision-making.
- Support business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new project opportunities, fostering relationships with potential partners, and participating in industry conferences and networking events.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement by implementing best practices, evaluating new technologies, and streamlining development processes to optimize project delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business). Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in the development of battery energy storage projects, preferably within the solar or renewable energy industry.
- Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems (BESS), project development processes, and permitting requirements in the UK.
- Solid financial acumen with experience in financial modelling, project financing, and investment analysis for renewable energy projects.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them on time and within budget.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build successful relationships.
- Sound knowledge of energy market dynamics, policy frameworks, and regulatory environment related to renewable energy and energy storage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently while thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
