Job description
Our client, a leading technology company based in California, seeks a visionary and experienced Director of Sustainability to drive their sustainability agenda and shape their environmental and social impact strategies. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company's sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with global sustainability frameworks, industry best practices, and stakeholder expectations.
- Drive the integration of sustainability principles across all aspects of the business, from product development and supply chain operations to corporate governance and community engagement.
- Lead the identification and assessment of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities, and develop robust mitigation plans to minimize negative impacts and enhance positive contributions.
- Oversee sustainability and ESG reporting and disclosure efforts, ensuring accurate and transparent communication of sustainability performance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and promote the adoption of sustainable practices throughout the organisation.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulations, and industry benchmarks related to sustainability, and provide strategic guidance to ensure the company remains at the forefront of sustainable business practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business) is required; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in sustainability leadership roles within the technology industry or related sectors, demonstrating a track record of driving sustainability programs and delivering measurable results.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainability frameworks, standards (e.g., GRI, SASB), and global ESG trends.
- Strong understanding of ESG, environmental, social and governance impact assessments, sustainable sourcing, carbon footprint reduction, and other key sustainability areas within the industry.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership, employees, customers, and external partners.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate sustainability goals into actionable plans and drive organisational change.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
