Job description
We seek a highly motivated and experienced Director of Climate Science-Based Initiatives to join an Innovative Carbon Removal Solution Platform, connecting ambitious buyers in discovering innovative carbon removal options with solution suppliers. The role focuses on representing the organization's position in Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) initiatives, advancing carbon markets and climate removal technologies and assessing carbon emission project solutions.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary advocate for climate concerns within the management team, actively shaping our strategic direction.
- Enhance the organization's visibility by serving as a spokesperson and crafting influential thought leadership materials.
- Lead the development of climate assessment methodologies and frameworks for a range of CDR techniques, leveraging established groundwork.
- Execute thorough climate assessments for potential projects to ensure rigorous evaluation standards.
- Offer technical expertise to support sales and marketing efforts, elevating the quality of our customer offerings.
- Oversee small-scale corporate climate consultancy projects, providing guidance on emission measurement and facilitating net-zero transition planning for clients to ensure a comprehensive and successful approach.
- Drive the organization's position on CDR, carbon markets, and climate policy, representing the organization effectively in relevant discussions and contributing to impactful thought leadership pieces to bolster our industry influence and reputation with prospective clients.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in natural sciences like chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, physics, or environmental science.
- More than 7 years of experience in climate and sustainability roles, with a proven ability to assemble effective management teams.
- Specialization in carbon dioxide removal (CDR), demonstrating proficiency in a specific CDR method alongside comprehensive knowledge of the broader CDR landscape.
- Thorough grasp of quality evaluations in voluntary carbon markets.
- Strong communication abilities with a dedication to articulate scientific concepts clearly. Enthusiasm for dynamic work environments. Resilience and adaptability to navigate uncertain situations effectively.
